Bernedoodles are a unique hybrid breed that can weigh anywhere from 20-75 pounds when fully grown. They are a cross between Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles. These dogs are especially known for their intelligence, loyalty, and cheerful personalities. They have hypoallergenic coats which require regular grooming and can range in color from solid black to a combination of black, white and tan. An interesting fun fact about Bernedoodles is that they love to practice their own version of yoga.
Bernedoodles are a hybrid of a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, so the degree of shedding can vary depending on which parent the puppies take after. Generally speaking, Bernedoodles are considered to be low-shedding and therefore less likely to cause allergies compared to other varieties of doodles. Most of the coat is the soft fur of the Poodle, which tends to be low-shedding.
Bernedoodles love to eat and typically have a strong appetite. To keep them healthy, the best diet for a Bernedoodle is one that is balanced and tailored to their individual needs. Some of the nutrition that a Bernedoodle should have in their diet includes fresh proteins such as eggs, fish, and lean meats like turkey and chicken; complex carbohydrates like oats, barley, and brown rice; fresh fruits and vegetables like banana, apple, and broccoli; and some but not all dairy products like yogurt and cottage cheese.
Before getting a Bernedoodle, some essential items to purchase include a soft-bristled brush for grooming, high-quality dog food to meet their nutritional needs, a collar or harness with a sturdy leash, an identification tag, a bed or crate, toys, and, if desired, a dog training book. Generally, it is recommended that you walk your Bernedoodle for at least 30 minutes per day. However, the amount of exercise your Bernedoodle requires really depends on its age, health, and energy level. If your Bernedoodle is young and healthy, they may need up to an hour of exercise a day. However, if your Bernedoodle is older or has health issues, it may not be able to handle so much exercise and may need only 15 to 20 minutes of walking each day.
