Bernedoodles are a cross between Bernese Mountain Dogs and Poodles. They are loving, gentle, and social animals that make great family pets. They are also smart, loyal, and easy to train. Bernedoodles tend to be low maintenance, as they don't need much exercise and love lounging on the couch. Despite their low-maintenance nature, Bernedoodles still thrive when provided with plenty of interactive playtime, so it's important to give them routine activities to keep them happy and healthy.
The Bernedoodle has a coat that varies depending on the generation. The F1 generation Bernedoodle (50% Bernese Mountain Dog and 50% Poodle) has a generally wavy, medium-length coat that is generally low-shedding and low-dander. F1b and F2 Bernedoodle generations (with more of a poodle influence) tend to have a curlier coat, that’s also low-shedding and low-dander, but may require slightly more grooming.
Bernedoodles require a balanced diet of high quality dry kibble specially formulated for a large breed dog, as well as wet food or home-cooked meals. Depending on their lifestyle and activity level, they may need between 1 2 cups of dry kibble per day. If you choose to feed them wet food, then you should divide the recommended portion of dry kibble into at least two smaller meals in the morning and evening.
