This popular designer dog breed combines the intelligence and active temperament of a Poodle with the calm and loyal nature of a Bernese Mountain Dog. Bernedoodles should receive lots of companionship and exercise, such as running, walking, or hiking, as well as groomed regularly to keep their coats shiny and healthy. They are highly intelligent so it's often valuable to begin obedience and socialization training early.
The Bernedoodle coat can vary depending on the parentage, but generally it is a low-shedding cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. Bernedoodle coats range from straight and wiry to soft and curly. It's possible for Bernedoodles to possess the shaggy coat of the Bernese Mountain Dog, or the curly coat of a Poodle. On average, a Bernedoodle's coat will possess traits from both parent breeds, creating a unique look.
