Bernedoodles are a truly unique breed of dog. The most interesting thing is that they are hybrid; a combination of the Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle, making them a so-called designer dog. They have the intelligence of a Poodle and the loyalty of a Bernese Mountain Dog, while being very affectionate and friendly. Their coats are also unique; rather than being a fluffy coat like a traditional Poodle, they are usually wavier and thicker like a Bernese Mountain Dog.
Unlike traditional poodles, Bernedoodles do not usually cause allergies because they have a low to non-shedding coat. Most people are allergic to pet dander, and the Bernedoodle's coat is designed to minimize the amount of loose hair and pet dander in the environment. While no pet can give complete guarantee that it will not cause an allergic reaction in people with pet allergies, Bernedoodles' low-allergen coats make them a better choice for those living with allergies.
Bernedoodles are unique in that they require a specific type of diet due to their mixed ancestry. It is best to make sure you provide your Bernedoodle with a diet that incorporates proteins, wholesome grains, and healthy fats, as well as vitamins and minerals to ensure they remain in good health. When selecting a food for a Bernedoodle, it is important to look for formulations specifically designed for large or giant breeds.
