Questions & Answers
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are a small breed of Toy Dog, belonging to the Spaniel class. They are noted for their long ears, large eyes, and their soft, silky coats. These affectionate, loyal companions were once a favorite of the royal family in Great Britain. They are an ideal breed for those looking for a small, well-tempered breed that is easy to train and socialize. They are great with both children and other pets, and their mild-mannered disposition makes them a great addition to any family.
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is such a delightfully cute and charming breed. This breed is particularly easy to recognize thanks to its silky, medium length coat which is often found in shades of red, ruby, black and tan, or tricolor. These coats are soft, wavy, and can sometimes have a slightly feathered texture to them. Their coats also require minimal grooming efforts just a brush two or three times per week so they are relatively low-maintenance compared to other breeds.
You should not feed Cavalier King Charles' dry food that is high in fat content or that has artificial ingredients, dyes, or flavors added to it. Instead, look for a quality natural dog food made with fresh ingredients that your dog can easily digest. You should also avoid feeding them table scraps, cheese, or too many treats, as they can really increase the risk of weight gain and health problems. Finally, make sure to keep chocolate and other foods containing theobromine, a substance toxic to dogs, out of their reach.
Preparing for your new Cavalier King Charles may seem like quite a task at first, but once you have all of the necessary supplies and precautions in place, you'll be ready to welcome your pup home in no time! Make sure you have all of your Dog's basic supplies, such as food, water dishes, a bed and toys. Additionally, you should brush up on some basic commands for proper obedience training, as well as have the appropriate Identification tags and collar in place.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels can grow to be around 12-13 inches tall when measured from the ground to the shoulder, and generally weigh anywhere from 13 to 18 pounds. They are considered a small-to-medium dog breed and have a square-proportioned body that feels solid and muscular. Cavaliers have a long, velvety coat that can come in a variety of colors and unique markings, so their size can sometimes be deceptive!
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are moderately active dogs that need a daily walk and some play time. They are not built for especially strenuous activities but they do require regular activity for both their physical and mental well-being. They need to be able to run, walk, swim, and explore. If your Cavalier King Charles doesn't receive the proper amount of exercise, they may become bored, anxious, or even destructive. Depending on their age, size, and energy level, a good rule of thumb would be to give your dog at least 30 minutes of exercise a day.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels can make wonderful first-time pets. This breed is a very social and friendly one, so they take well to most people or to those in a new environment. They are also small enough that they make a great fit for a smaller home, so you won't need to worry about them having too much space and not having any areas to run around in. They are playful and respond well to training, which can make training them easier.
Training a Cavalier King Charles is highly dependent on the individual pup's breed, temperament, and health, so it is difficult to make a general statement about whether or not it is easy. However, with a pup that is in good health, has a good temperament, and is regularly socialized, training should be manageable. The breed is known for being friendly and eager to please their owners, which can make it easier for them to learn tricks, understand commands, and adapt to new rules.
