The Cavalier King Charles is a small breed of dog that can be classified as a toy breed. The breed is believed to have been developed from a blend of miniature Spaniels during the reign of King Charles II of England, and is instantly recognizable by its beautiful silky-smooth coat of fur that comes in four distinct colors Blenheim (chestnut and white), Tricolor (black, white, and tan), Black and Tan, and Ruby.
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has a soft, silky coat with a slight wave that frames the face and body. This breed has a slight feathering on the ears, chest, legs, and tail, giving it a unique look. The amount and texture of their coat depends on the individual. Generally, the coat is smooth and not too long. It's also important to note that there are two different coat types: Blenheim is a rich chestnut and white with a ruby cast, and a deep red and white with a black/white mask.
