Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, or CKCS, are a lovely, sweet-tempered breed of small toy dog. These dogs have a silky, flat, and feathered coat that comes in distinct colors such as Blenheim, ruby, tri-color and black & tan. They have an average life expectancy of 10 to 14 years with acceptable health considerations such as patellar luxation and heart health concerns. They also have a wide range of activity levels from highly energetic to less active, so they make good pets for families of all sizes and activity types.
The majestic Cavalier King Charles breed is characterized by its long, silky coat. The color of the coat is dependent on the variety and can range from solid white, black and tan, tricolor, or a combination of all three. Typically, the texture is smooth and luxuriant and the dogs are easy to groom. The Cavalier King Charles is classified as a hypoallergenic breed due to their low shedding coat. Of course, each individual dog’s needs may vary depending on breed, age, and size.
