Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are loyal and friendly companions that have been around since the 15th century and are known for having an even temperament. They can live up to 15 years with proper care and exercise. As a toy breed, they are relatively small, usually between 12-14 inches in height and 13-18 pounds in weight. They are playful and affectionate, preferring to be around people and other pets. Grooming needs include regular brushing to keep the coat healthy and mat-free.
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has a beautiful coat with long, silky hair. It is medium to long in length and has natural wave and curl characteristics. The most common colors are Blenheim, tricolor, black and tan, and ruby, however the occasional uncommon color such as white or red may also be seen. The coat texture is soft and plush, and the shape of the body is muscular and compact. The characteristic "blenheim spot" on the head is a tan circle surrounded by white, which gives the breed a distinctive, eye-catching look.
