Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are known for their friendly and gentle nature and have been around since the 16th century. One fun fact about these loyal and affectionate pups is that they were a favorite of England's King Charles II, who even issued a written proclamation to protect them from being hunted for sport. Another interesting piece of trivia is that the breed is also related to the English Toy Spaniel. These dogs also have amazingly beautiful coats that come in black and tan, ruby, blenheim, or tricolor.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are considered to be a low to moderate shedder, meaning that they will shed less than most breeds. The breed does have a silky-smooth coat that doesn't shed as much as a typical breed, but expect some hair to be left around the house. Regular brushing and a healthy diet will help minimize the amount of hair that they shed. In comparison to other breeds, Cavaliers shed significantly less and some coats may not need brushing due to their lack of shed.
