Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a toy spaniel breed originally developed in England during the 17th century. Bred to be a lapdog, this breed is known for its silky, smooth, long coats and sweet and affectionate temperaments. They are relatively small, generally weighing between 12-20 lbs., and standing 12-13" at the shoulder. They come in four color varieties of ruby, black and tan, tri-color and blenheim. Although they make great companions, they have been bred as a sporting breed, and need moderate exercise and activity.
