They tend to be friendly and outgoing, and can get along well with other family members and pets. These intelligent and eager to please dogs are ideal for those who are looking for an active, loving, and loyal canine companion. In terms of grooming, Cavaliers will need regular brushing and trimming of their coats in order to keep them looking their best. Furthermore, they are low shedders, making them an ideal breed for those who wish to avoid excessive dog hair.
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has a double coat that features a lovely silky, long outer coat and a fine, light feathery topcoat. The colors of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel coat can vary, but the breed standard recognizes four distinct colors: Blenheim, Ruby, Black/Tan, and Tri-color.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels generally need high-quality dry kibble designed for adult dogs. Kibble helps to keep their teeth clean, reduce tartar buildup, and their digestive system healthy. In addition, small amounts of lean proteins, such as cooked lean meats, boiled eggs, cottage cheese, and cooked vegetables should be served along with their kibble. Cavaliers have generally high energy levels and generally love being active they will likely enjoy going for long walks, playing fetch, doing obedience training, being part of active social groups, and much more. They are also known for their Corners Trick, which is when Cavaliers like to run around corners if given the space.
