Questions & Answers
Cavapoos are a designer breed that result from crossing a Poodle and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. They are considered to be a small to medium sized breed and have a generally mixed coat of white, cream, apricot, brown, black, and red. Cavapoos are noted for being highly trainable and great family dogs. These dogs are often considered to be lowto non-shedding and typically range in weight from 10 to 30 pounds.
The Cavapoo's coat typically has a combination of their Poodle parent's soft, cottony coat and the proud Cavalier King Charles Spaniel's silky, medium-length fur. The waves and variety of colors attained due to this hybrid blend make the Cavapoo's coat unique and eye-catching. This breed's coat may be straight, wavy, or curly depending on their Poodle parent's hair type, and can come in gold, white, and tan base colors with many different combinations including some beautiful black and white tuxedos.
Cavapoos are a mix of two breeds, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Poodle. Because of their hybrid nature, the best diet for a Cavapoo will depend on its individual needs. A complete, balanced diet should include plenty of high-quality proteins such as eggs, beef, organ meat, fish, and poultry. Fruits and vegetables should also be included, as well as healthy carbohydrate sources like grains or pulses.
Cavapoos require moderate to high amounts of exercise, depending on the individual, as well as supervision and socialization to help them from developing behavior issues. Cavapoos need to be groomed regularly to keep their coat in a healthy condition, and they benefit from participating in obedience and agility classes. They are also quite sensitive and could benefit from plenty of positive reinforcement. Cavapoos can live happily in either an apartment or a house but should still have access to an outdoor area for exercise and stimulation.
Cavapoos are considered small to medium-sized dogs, not big dogs. Cavapoos are typically between 10 and 20 pounds when fully grown, making them one of the smaller hybrid or designer breeds. Standard Poodles, which make up one-half of the Cavapoo breed, can range from 40 to 70 pounds when fully grown, while the other half, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, is normally only between 12 and 18 pounds.
Cavapoos, also known as a Cavadoodle, Cavoodle, or Cavalier King Charles Spaniel-Poodle mix, are very active dogs! They love physical activities such as running, jogging, and long walks. They also enjoy playing fetch or games of tug-of-war. Cavapoos are typically full of energy, which means they need lots of activity to stay healthy and happy. Not only do they need physical exercise to keep their energy levels in check, but mental stimulation is also very beneficial for their wellbeing.
Cavapoos are generally a good choice if you're looking for a dog that gets along well with children. Cavapoos tend to be generally friendly and have sweetness and intelligence which often makes them great playmates for kids. They are eager to please, so any training or discipline needed to live with children is simpler than with other breeds. Additionally, Cavapoos are typically patient, gentle, and loyal, which can make them great dog companions for youngsters. They rarely exhibit worrisome behavior such as aggression or dominant striving that needs to be carefully managed.
Training your Cavapoo starts by providing lots of positive reinforcement, consistency, and patience. Start with basic commands such as 'sit' and 'stay', then you can move onto more advanced commands like 'heel' and 'down'. A professional canine trainer may also be useful in guiding you through the correct steps in teaching your Cavapoo. One key part of successful dog training is consistency, so it's important to maintain a regular schedule of training sessions. You should reward your Cavapoo with treats or verbal praise when they successfully master a command.
