Questions & Answers
A Cavapoo, also known as a Cavoodle, is a designer crossbreed between a Poodle and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Cavapoos are incredibly friendly dogs and make excellent pets for a wide variety of families or living situations. They're known to be highly intelligent, require less maintenance and effort to take care of than a larger breed, and produce a minimal amount of shedding.
Cavapoos are considered to be low-shedding dogs, making them appealing to those with allergies. Their coats are softer and silkier than a typical poodle. Generally, their coat does not shed as much as their parent breeds, but it does require regular brushing to keep its luxurious texture. While they may not shed as heavily as some other breeds, they may still sometimes drop a small amount of hair, especially when brushed or groomed. In addition, they may occasionally have heavy shedding periods twice a year that will require more frequent clipping, brushing, and bathing.
Cavapoos are a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Toy or Miniature Poodle. As such, they require special diets that are suitable for their breed. To make sure you know what not to feed your Cavapoo, consult with your veterinarian for a detailed nutrition plan. Additionally, certain foods, such as chocolate, onions, grapes, and fatty or spicy foods are especially unhealthy for Cavapoos and should be avoided. Be sure to research any food that you give to your pet to make sure it is healthy and safe for their consumption.
Preparing for a new puppy can be an exciting adventure! There are a few key steps to becoming the best puppy parent for your Cavapoo. First, puppy proof your home. Here you will want to be sure to secure cabinets, hide capalets and electrical cords, and have an area dedicated to your puppy. Second, ensure you have the proper supplies and be sure to include a crate, bed, water and food bowls, and toys. Third, begin attending puppy obedience classes as soon as possible so you can give your puppy the best training possible.
Cavapoos, a designer hybrid of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Poodle, do not typically grow very large. While there are exceptions, most Cavapoos will be smaller than many other breeds of dogs and generally considered a mid-sized to smaller breed. Cavapoos can range anywhere from 7-20 lbs and their height usually stays around 12-16 inches in height when fully grown. Although they can be beautiful and slightly larger than their parents, their size is too small to be considered as a big dog.
It is important to set aside time each day to ensure your Cavapoo gets enough exercise. Ideally, you should plan to walk your Cavapoo for at least 20 minutes each day. If possible, aim for 30-45 minutes. Longer or more frequent walks will help keep your pup fit and healthy and keep their energy under control. Remember that young puppies need shorter walks at first and should not go too long without frequent stops.
Cavapoos are a great option for any family looking to add a new canine member to the group! They are incredibly loving and affectionate companions that thrive on human interaction and will likely develop a strong bond with their family. Cavapoos are also often very intelligent dogs, making them relatively easy to train. They may be small but they are brave and loyal, ensuring they are great watchdogs for keeping your home safe. Cavapoos also have a gentle, laid-back temperament, so they're not too high-energy, making them suitable for living in apartments.
The amount of time needed to train Cavapoos each day can vary based on the individual dog and its level of experience. Generally speaking, a Cavapoo should receive mental and physical stimulation of at least 30 to 40 minutes daily to keep it mentally engaged and physically fit. Activities like going for walks, playing fetch, and training with positive reinforcement and reward-based methods, should be incorporated into your daily routine. Because of their friendly and socialized nature, Cavapoos are usually highly responsive to routine training.
