Questions & Answers
A Cavapoo is a designer hybrid cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle. Cavapoos are friendly, social, loving companion dogs that make great family pets. They are usually outgoing, eager to please, and non-aggressive which makes them a great choice for families with children and/or other pets. Cavapoos are typically lowto non-shedding, making them a great option for those with allergies. Cavapoos usually range in size from about 10 to 20 lbs., and come in many different colors.
The Cavapoo has a soft and smooth coat. It often features a mix of both the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Poodle's coat, so the color and texture can vary. Generally, Cavapoos will either be wavy or curly. Its coat may not require much grooming, but it will need to be brushed and combed regularly. During shedding season, which usually occurs twice a year, the coat will have to be brushed more frequently than usual.Visually, the Cavapoo offers a beautiful and unique look due to its variety of coat colors.
Cavapoos typically don't have any specific dietary needs that differ from other dogs. However, it is important that they receive a nutritious, balanced diet consisting of high-quality food that is formulated for their age and size. In addition to creating healthy meals, you may need to take into account any dietary restrictions due to allergies or other medical considerations. If your Cavapoo does have allergies, you may need to have a specialized diet for them that excludes certain allergens.
Becoming a great puppy parent while you wait for your Cavapoo requires planning and dedication. Start by researching the breed and understanding their behaviors and physical needs. Make sure to puppy-proof your home and purchase essential items such as water and food bowls, a bed, and toys. Establish a plan for potty training and crate training and stick to the same routine every day. When your pup arrives home, spend quality time getting to know them, provide regular exercise and plenty of love and affection.
Cavapoos come in a variety of sizes, ranging from small toy sizes of four to nine pounds up to the larger “medium” sizes of fourteen to twenty pounds or more. While they are considered a small-sized breed of dog, the weight range for Cavapoos varies heavily due to the fact that they are bred from crossing two different breeds of dog the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Poodle. Each puppy of this mix will range in size depending on which parent the puppy takes after the most.
Cavapoos are considered a high-energy breed and need quite a bit of exercise. On average, they need at least one hour of exercise per day and love running, playing fetch, long walks, and engaging in other activities. Make sure to take them to a secure area to play or a dog park so they can burn off energy and explore. If your Cavapoo is particularly active, consider even more exercise for them. As a rule of thumb, the more you can give your Cavapoo, the better.
Cavapoos can make wonderful family pets due to their active, friendly and intelligent natures. They generally get along very well with children of all ages, provided they are socialized correctly. As these pups are a cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle, they will often combine the best traits from both breeds; such as being loyal, affectionate and gentle. Cavapoos can also offer a lot of fun and companionship for children while requiring minimal grooming and not too much exercise.
Training your Cavapoo starts with teaching basic behaviors such as walking, sitting, and responding to their name. Building a bond with your pup will make the sessions enjoyable for both of you. Make each training session short, no more than 15 minutes. Give lots of praise for jobs well done with treats, physical affection and verbal reward. If your Cavapoo is struggling to understand a new command, break it into smaller steps and practice them each time until the behavior is mastered. Patience and consistent rewards will go a long way in motivating your puppy.
