Cavapoos are a hybrid dog breed, resulting from the cross-breeding of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Miniature or Toy Poodle. Due to their versatility, Cavapoos are a great family pet as they can be the perfect combination of calmness and playfulness. Although there is no universal Cavapoo type, they are known for their beautiful wavy coats and their intelligence. Even though Cavapoos may have inherited some of the characteristics of the two parent breeds, no two Cavapoos are exactly alike.
Managing allergies with Cavapoos is possible with careful planning ahead of time. Start by brushing the Cavapoo often to remove excess coat and reduce dander, the protein that triggers an allergic reaction. Bathing the Cavapoo at least once a week can also help reduce allergens. Choose unscented, hypoallergenic shampoos, conditioners, and other grooming products. Keep the Cavapoo's living area clean to reduce allergen buildup. Vacuum and mop floors regularly and wash bedding frequently.
Cavapoos have very specific dietary requirements so it's important to know what not to feed them. Generally, it is best to avoid processed or fatty foods as these can cause an upset stomach and other health problems. Other food items to avoid include grapes, raisins, cherries, macadamia nuts, caffeine, dishes containing garlic or onions, xylitol, and anything that has been sitting out too long. The size really depends on the genetics of the parent breeds and if it's a first, second, or third generation Cavapoo. Generally speaking, if both parents were Toy or Miniature Poodles the pup could besmaller, about 10 to 15 pounds. Though if one parent was a Standard Poodle, the pup could grow bigger, up to 20 pounds. It's important to do research ahead of time to know what to expect in terms of size.
Cavapoos, being a relatively small and active breed, need approximately one hour of exercise every day. The most common type of exercise for Cavapoos is walking, which can be split into multiple walks or outdoor playtimes throughout the day. This can also include structured activities such as agility, flyball, or swimming.
