Cavapoos, also known as Cavoodle Dogs, are a type of designer breed that is a combination of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Toy or Miniature Poodle. They are known for being active, playful, and affectionate pets that make ideal companions for people of all ages. Cavapoos don't require a huge amount of exercise, making them a great match for someone with a busy lifestyle. They typically reach adulthood by between 1-2 years of age and require minimal grooming, givings their fur a unique Velvety feel.
Cavapoos, which are a crossbreed of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle, are often considered to be hypoallergenic. This means that they rarely cause a reaction in those who are affected by pet allergies. While it is true that the Poodle breed is very low-shedding and often does not cause allergic reactions, a Cavapoo can still produce some dander and cause occasional allergic symptoms. It is always important to meet the individual Cavapoo before making an allergy-related decision, as each pup can bring unique characteristics to the table.
Cavapoos do not require a particularly specialized diet, however some may have certain dietary needs due to health complications. For example, those with allergies may need to be on a diet which eliminates ingredients that commonly cause reactions. Additionally, we recommend providing your Cavapoo a balanced and nutritious diet. This can include wet and dry food formulated for small breeds, as well as fresh and cooked fruits and vegetables. As with all dogs, you should pay attention to the quantity and frequency of feeding in order to ensure that they do not become overweight.
Prior to bringing home your Cavapoo, you should make sure that your home is adequately prepared. Start by puppy proofing your home to avoid any dangerous items or areas. Ensure that cleaning products, toxic plants, strangulation hazards, and anything else that could potentially threaten your puppy's safety is removed. Next, be sure to have necessary items like food, treats, toys, a bed, and grooming supplies. Be sure to also have up-to-date collar, leash, identification tags and microchip information.
Cavapoos are typically considered to be of small to medium size according to the American Kennel Club's proportions. These dogs reach an adult size anywhere from 10 to 20 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh between 6 to 25 pounds, depending on the size of their parents. Cavapoos are considered small dogs when compared to larger breeds, but can be surprisingly robust in both height and weight and in general make suitable family pets. Additionally, they are generally recognized as being friendly, affectionate, and energetic with an eagerness to please that makes them easy to train in both obedience and agility.
