Questions & Answers
Cavapoos are a truly unique hybrid breed that is loved by many for their sweet, friendly temperaments. We can thank the Cockapoo and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel for their unique mix of qualities. Cavapoos typically have thick fur and come in a variety of fun colors. They are also recognized for their low-shedding coat, and their intelligence and affectionate nature make them a great companion pet. They're also one of the most trainable breeds, and their joy of human companionship makes them a great addition to any family.
Cavapoos are known for having a soft, luxurious coat that typically sheds relatively low. Depending on the parent breeds, the Cavapoo coat can vary in texture, color, and length. For example, some may have long, wavy locks, while others may have a short, curly coat. Some Cavapoos may have a single coat color while others may have a mix of two or more colors and/or variations of one color. Additionally, some Cavapoos may also have aberration patterns such as merle, brindle, or piebald-like spots.
Feeding your Cavapoo is an important part of pet care and can affect their health and wellbeing. It is best to choose a premium dog food that is designed for their age and size. Cavapoos are small to medium size dogs, so look for formulas labeled as small-breed or mini-breed. Make sure the food contains high-quality proteins, including chicken or turkey. Avoid labels that use byproducts or generic “meals.” You can supplement their diet with fresh fruits and vegetables such as, carrots, green beans or apples.
Cavapoos have some unique needs and special requirements that should be taken into consideration when caring for them. They require regular grooming to maintain their soft, luxurious coat, as well as nail trimming and brushing/combing. Cavapoos also need regular exercise, as they can quickly become strong and need plenty of activity to stay healthy. They tend to do well in the company of people and other animals, and can be trained to participate in a variety of activities.
Cavapoos typically come in small sizes from Toy to Small Miniature. Toy size Cavapoos generally grow up to 10 inches tall when fully grown, while Small Miniature Cavapoos can range from 11 14 inches in height. Cavapoos tend to remain quite small as adults and they usually weigh between 5 15 pounds. Since Cavapoos are a designer breed, they can vary significantly in size depending on the size of the dog that is used to create the hybrid.
How much exercise your Cavapoo needs will depend on its age, energy levels, and overall health. Generally speaking, a healthy Cavapoo should get at least 30 minutes of exercise per day. Some days, your pup may need more depending on their energy levels. Walking is a great way to provide your pup with the exercise they need. On average, aim to spend at least 30-60 minutes each day walking your Cavapoo. While taking your Cavapoo for a walk, it is important to keep the pace at a brisk walk with a few short periods of running.
Cavapoos make excellent companions for first-time owners due to their combination of Cockerspaniel and Poodle traits. Cavapoos are known for their love of people and are an easy dog to live with as they don't need alot of space to be happy. They are extrememly intelligent and highly trainable, yet they aren't as high energy as pure-bred cavapoos usually are. They also have good social skills with other pets, making it easier for first-time dog owners to manage their environment better.
Training a Cavapoo is certainly doable with some determination, consistency, and patience. Depending on the individual pup, they may be more or less prone to certain behaviors that require extra focus. Establishing good habits at a young age is important in helping shape your pup's behavior. You'll want to have a firm but fair approach when correcting negative behaviors and reward positive behaviors to make sure it's always associated with something positive. With enough time and effort, you can ensure your Cavapoo will respond to basic commands and be a joy to be around!
