Questions & Answers
Cavapoos are unique hybrid breeds that combine the gentle disposition of a poodle with the easy-going attitude of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. They are also incredibly intelligent and learn new tricks and commands quickly. Some interesting facts about Cavapoos are that they are gentle, loving dogs who usually get along well with other animals, children, and even strangers. They usually don’t bark very often; their coats come in a variety of colors, such as apricot, black, gold, cream, white, and chocolate.
It is possible that Cavapoos could cause you to have allergies, though there is no guarantee. Cavapoos can potentially cause all types of allergies, including skin irritations, respiratory problems, and digestive issues. Therefore, the best way to find out if you are allergic to Cavapoos is to have an allergy test done by a qualified professional. That said, many people who have allergies to other breeds of dogs or cats are able to tolerate Cavapoos, as their coat is hypoallergenic.
Cavapoos do not have any special dietary needs beyond those of other breeds of comparable ages and activity levels. Generally, a high-quality dry kibble designed for small breeds and made with top-quality ingredients provides all the nutrients and minerals Cavapoos need. If your pet is active, you may consider adding a little canned food, finely-grated vegetables, healthy fats, and plenty of clean, fresh water. However, it is important to talk to your vet about the best diet for your Cavapoo and how often they need to eat.
Before getting a Cavapoo, it's essential to make sure you have all of the supplies needed to care for your pup. This includes a comfortable place to sleep, special shampoo, an identichip for registration, food and water dishes, a brush or comb, puppy treats, a collar and leash, toys, and some type of designated play area. Having these items ready for your pup will make the transition to their new home easier for both of you. You'll also want to make sure that you're ready for the dedication of time that's needed to care for your Cavapoo.
Your Cavapoo puppy's size as an adult can typically range anywhere from a small toy size of 9-14 pounds to larger Standard sizes of 18-25 pounds, depending on the size of the parents and which variations of the poodle breed (Toy, Miniature, or Standard ) were used in the breeding process. Typically, males are slightly larger than females. Your puppy's size will be directly associated with the size of the parents and could possibly fall somewhere in the middle of the two extremes.
Generally speaking, your Cavapoo should get at least 30 minutes of exercise each day. This exercise should include a combination of both mental and physical stimulation. If you have the ability to take your pup for a longer walk, such as an hour or more, that would be even better. The important thing is that you ensure your furry friend is getting enough exercise and activity every day. When it comes to walking your Cavapoo, it's best to break it up into smaller, more frequent outings throughout the day as opposed to one longer walk.
Cavapoos are known for being gentle, affectionate, and loving. This makes them wonderful companions for children, especially since their small size makes them easy to handle and cuddle with. Cavapoos often display a sociable nature and enjoy being around people, which makes them good family pets for kids. Cavapoos tend to be loyal, devoted, and eager to please, so they can learn to obey and understand basic commands. They also have a low to moderate energy level, so they don’t require excessive exercise which makes them ideal for a family with young children.
The amount of time you need to devote to your Cavapoo's daily training will vary depending on their age and temperament. For younger Cavapoos, you should start with short training sessions lasting around 10 minutes. As your pup's ability to focus increases, you can gradually increase the length of these sessions up to 20 minutes. For adult Cavapoos, it's recommended to do at least 30 minutes of training a day. To keep things interesting, you can split this into two or more shorter sessions throughout the day.
