Cavapoos are a popular designer breed created by mixing a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle. This is a hybrid breed that has become increasingly popular because they are so cute, intelligent, social, and easy to train. Cavapoos tend to be slightly more hypoallergenic compared to other dogs since the Poodle gene causes a reduction in shedding and they generally can live up to 16 years. They require regular exercise and grooming, along with training to ensure they are obedient and well behaved. Cavapoos need regular socialization and stimulation to remain healthy and happy.
It is impossible to definitively answer whether or not Cavapoos will cause allergies because it varies for each individual. Generally, Cavapoos are considered to be good for people with allergies because their hypoallergenic coat does not shed as much as other dogs. However, due to the mixed ancestry of a Cavapoo, they could potentially trigger allergies just like any other breeds. It's important to note that since a Cavapoo is a combination of two different breeds, there is no guarantee that their hypoallergenic coat will completely protect you from being affected by allergens.
Cavapoos are considered small dogs who can easily gain weight from over-eating, so it’s important to feed them high-quality food that is balanced and nutritious. Gold-standard Cavapoo nutrition should include lean proteins, healthy fats, complex carbohydrates, and additional vitamins and minerals. Look for foods that are labeled “complete” or “balanced” and contain at least 18% of protein and no more than 5% of fat. Sprinkle in healthy treats like cooked vegetables, fruits, unsalted nuts, and some yogurt for additional nutrition and flavor.
To prepare your home for your new Cavapoo, ensure you have all the necessary items such as a bed, food and water bowls, collar and leash, grooming supplies, toys, and treats. Make sure your home is free of small items that could be chewed or swallowed as well as poisonous plants. Put away any items that your pup might find and chew such as electrical cords, shoes, books, or paper. Puppy-proof your home by looking for areas where your pup may climb and jump from to avoid an injury.
Cavapoos, which are hybrid dogs, typically come in two different sizes: toy, which stands for 10-14 inches in height and 12-20 lbs in weight, and mini, which stands for 14-17 inches in height and 15-30 lbs in weight.
