Questions & Answers
One of the most interesting things about Cavapoos is that they are a hybrid breed, created by crossing a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a Poodle. This makes them a unique mix of two different kinds of dog, often combining the best of both breeds; for example, the intelligence and good-natured personality of a poodle combined with the smaller size and playfulness of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Cavapoos are also great family pets because they tend to be friendly, loving, and gentle, and are typically very easy to train because of their intelligence.
Cavapoos, which are a hybrid cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Poodle, can be considered non-shedding. Generally speaking, their coat is soft and may contain curly or wavier fur, and because the Poodle is hypoallergenic the Cavapoo will also be hypoallergenic and won't shed much of its fur. People that have allergies to animals will find them to be ideal pets since they are low-dander and low-shedding. This makes them very desirable among pet owners.
Knowing what not to feed your Cavapoo is key to maintaining their health. First, it is important to understand their dietary needs and how they can be met. Cavapoos normally do best with a diet of high-quality, grain-free dry dog food that is appropriate for their age and activity level. Avoid feeding table scraps and human-grade foods as these may not provide your Cavapoo with the balance of essential vitamins and minerals they need.
Becoming the best puppy parent while waiting for your Cavapoo takes a bit of preparation and dedication. Before getting your pup, be sure to research the breed's typical personality traits, dietary needs, and exercise requirements. Set up all of the necessary supplies so that you are ready as soon as the puppy arrives. Make sure you are able to give your pup the attention it needs, to keep it happy and healthy. Provide plenty of training opportunities so that your pup learns the basic commands. Balance this with plenty of playtime to help foster a bond between you and your fur baby.
A Cavapoo puppy will generally reach its full-grown size between 9 and 14 months. Depending on their lineage, a Cavapoo's adult size can vary, but they typically range between 10 and 15 pounds. Height-wise, they tend to hover around 10 to 14 inches. However, individual characteristics, such as genetics, nutrition, lifestyle and additional factors, can affect their eventual size. If you'd like to predict a puppy's adult size more accurately, you may want to talk with the breeder about the parents' size and lineage, as this may provide more information.
The amount of walking needed for a Cavapoo can vary depending on their age and activity level. Generally, it’s recommended to give your pup between 30 and 45 minutes of walking every day. However, if your Cavapoo is less than a year old, start with five to fifteen minutes of activity (like playing fetch or a short walk). As they get older and more active, you can gradually increase the amount of daily exercise.
Cavapoos are excellent companions for children! They are known to be particularly gentle and loving in their interactions with young people. Cavapoos often form strong bonds with children and, as part of the family, take part in daily activities. As long as children are taught to act responsibly around the Cavapoo, such as not teasing or pulling its fur, these pups are likely to be great playmates. Cavapoos usually get more enthusiastic as they get older and have more energy, so they can keep up with even the most active of kids.
Training a Cavapoo can be very rewarding, but it takes dedication and consistency. They are intelligent and loyal breeds, so with proper reinforcement and plenty of positive reinforcement, they learn quickly and can be trained in to a well balanced, obedient pup. Cavapoos respond best to positive reinforcement, such as verbal praise, treats and playtime. Keeping training sessions short and engaging will help them stay focused and attentive. Spending time with your Cavapoo, in addition to regular exercise, can help keep your canine companion well behaved and obedient.
