Cockapoos are a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle. They are considered to be people-oriented dogs and tend to be very affectionate. Cockapoos tend to be low-shedding and hypoallergenic, which makes them suitable for people with allergies. They tend to be fairly adaptable to their environment, however do best with consistent daily exercise and a lot of reassurance and companionship. They are often considered one of the most intelligent breeds of dogs, and therefore are quite easy to train.
Cockapoos are relatively low shedding due to having two non-shedding parents, the Cocker Spaniel and the Poodle. This hybrid breed typically sheds less than regular Cocker Spaniels or Poodles, but they can still have some amount of shedding. While Cockapoos do not shed in the dense and heavy way that a lot of other breeds do, it is still necessary to brush and groom them on a regular basis. In addition, regular grooming helps to keep their coat healthy and maintain the lovely look of a Cockapoo.
Cockapoos typically require a high-quality diet composed of meat, grains, and fruits and vegetables. Cockapoos are usually a small to medium size breed, usually growing to a maximum of around 15 inches in height. Their usual weight range is between 12 and 24 pounds, but there are examples that smaller and larger than this range. Generally, Cockapoos will reach their full adult size around a year of age, but could still grow slightly beyond this. The look of a Cockapoo can also vary greatly in size and weight, even if they're the same age and similar parents. For this reason, it can be difficult to assign an exact size range for Cockapoos.
Cockapoos need moderated amounts of exercise to stay healthy and happy. It's important to ensure that a Cockapoo gets enough physical activity, preferably at least once a day.
