A Cockapoo is a uniquely designed hybrid dog that is a mix of a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle. This breed has become increasingly popular in recent years because of the many beneficial traits it offers their owners. These designer dogs have a broad range of characteristics, however, they are generally low-to-non shedding, hypoallergenic, friendly, and smart.
Cockapoos are a popular mixed breed of dog that result from the union of a Cocker Spaniel and a Miniature Poodle. Much of the appeal of these furry companions is due to their being generally non-shedding, a trait they manage to maintain thanks to their Poodle heritage. These low-shedding pooches can help minimize the effects of seasonal allergies in an indoor home environment, as well as reduce the amount of time it takes to keep surfaces in the home free of unwanted pet fur.
Cockapoos should not be fed anything containing xylitol, alcohol, caffeine, or garlic, or anything that could be difficult for the dog to digest. It's recommended to feed your Cockapoo a diet consisting of high-quality dog food specially formulated for small breeds. Although Cockapoos don't require any extraordinary care, there are several things that should be kept in mind to keep them healthy and happy. Cockapoos need regular exercise in order to stay energetic and fit. Regular activity also helps keep them behaved and attentive. Additionally, it's important to provide them with proper nutrition and a balanced diet to ensure their coat, skin and digestive system stay healthy. Grooming should be done on a regular basis to maintain their silky and soft fur, prevent skin irritation, and help them stay clean.
Although Cockapoos tend to stay relatively small, averaging about 20 pounds, they have been bred from two larger breeds in the past, the Cocker Spaniel and the Poodle. Therefore, some Cockapoos may weigh closer to the 30-pound range and be considered a medium-sized dog. Depending on its size, a Cockapoo may take up more space than a toy-sized breed, so if you're looking for a large-sized breed, this may not be the best choice for you.
Generally speaking, minimum daily physical exercise is recommended for Cockapoos. It is a good idea for owners to take them out on regular walks every day to ensure that they get a minimum of 30-minutes of moderate physical exercise. Depending on your Cockapoo's level of energy, you may need to increase the duration of the walk. Also, it is important to ensure that your Cockapoo takes part in other physical activities such as agility training, fetching, and swimming. Taking your Cockapoo out on longer walks is a great way to build their stamina.
Cockapoos are generally known to be a friendly dog breed that gets along well with other animals, pets, and, of course, people especially children. They are considered to be great companion dogs and tend to form strong bonds with their family. Cockapoos are known to be affectionate and tolerant, happily tagging along with their people wherever they go. They may even learn a trick or two, in order to please their young master. Training your Cockapoo is a necessary part of owning a dog. Start by making sure your Cockapoo is comfortable and relaxed, either by going for a walk or providing a toy or treat. Purchase an obedience book and/or enroll in obedience classes tailored for the Cockapoo breed. Familiarize yourself and your Cockapoo with basic commands such as "sit", "stay", "down" and "come". Give your Cockapoo plenty of rewards and positive reinforcement for correct responses and responses that are close to being correct. Practice the commands consistently and patiently.
