A Cockapoo is a small designer breed created by crossing a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle. It is a fairly new hybrid, first bred in America in the 1950s. Cockapoos combine the intelligence and loyalty of a Cocker Spaniel with the playful, energetic nature of a Poodle. They are an excellent choice for active people due to their high energy and intelligence. They are eager to please, have great temperaments, and can be very affectionate family pets. Cockapoos do not require much grooming, as their coats are naturally short and smooth.
The Cockapoo coat is soft and fluffy and comes in a variety of colors, such as black, white, cream, and red. You can also find many Cockapoos with multicolored coats, including sable and parti-colored. Depending on the style of the Cockapoo's coat, it may be wavy or curly. Generally, Cockapoos require regular brushing and occasional trimmings. Their undercoat may need to be groomed more often when shedding season hits.

Walks every day is suggested to keep them fit and mentally healthy and a secure backyard for play time is also recommended.

The Miniature Cockapoo is the next size up, weighing in between 12 18 pounds. The Medium Cockapoo is a slightly larger breed and usually weighs between 19 22 pounds. Finally, the Standard Cockapoo is the largest of the Cockapoo varieties and can weigh anywhere from 23-30 pounds, depending on the breed of the parent dogs.
