Cockapoos are a designer hybrid breed, created by purposely crossing a Cocker Spaniel with a Poodle. As a result of this crossbreeding, the Cockapoo is now recognized as its own unique, and distinct breed of dog. This breed is well-liked for its medium-sized stature, intelligence, and amenable, friendly, and loving personality. They are often known as the “Eternal Puppies” due to their highly loving, loyal, and affectionate demeanor.
Cockapoos are not completely non-shedding dogs, however they are considered to have low-shedding coats. This means they shed very little compared to other breeds of dogs. While some Cockapoos may produce minimal to no shedding, all require regular brushing and grooming to maintain their coat and prevent it from getting too matted and uncomfortable for them. If desired, keeping up with these treatments can help manage any shedding they do have to an even lesser degree.
Cockapoos should never be fed foods containing high levels of fat, such as poultry, duck, and other meats; chocolate, onions, raisins, grapes, macadamia nuts, high-suga foods, and foods containing xylitol; or any other human food.
