Questions & Answers
Cockapoos are energetic and fun-loving dogs that have become increasingly popular over the years! Cockapoos are a hybrid breed created by crossing a Cocker Spaniel with a Poodle. They typically have wavy and curly hair, and come in a variety of colors. Cockapoos are known for being intelligent and highly trainable, making them great pet companions. They thrive in homes with children and other pets, loyal to their human owners. Furthermore, Cockapoos are hypoallergenic and low-shedding, so they are a great choice for allergy-sufferers.
Cockapoos are not considered hypoallergenic breeds. They are nonetheless a popular choice for people with allergies as they don't shed much and produce very little dander, which are the main culprits of triggering allergy symptoms. While Cockapoos do have hypoallergenic tendencies, there may still be some individuals who find themselves feeling the effects of Cockapoos and their fur. To be sure, it's best to test your reaction to them or any other breed before investing in a pet.
Feeding your Cockapoo the wrong things can have serious health consequences, so it's important to educate yourself on what to avoid. Cockapoos should not be given foods like chocolate, caffeine, alcohol, onion, avocado, garlic, raisins, currants, sultanas, macadamia nuts, or foods containing the artificial sweetener, Xylitol. It's best to stick with a diet of premium-quality dry or canned dog food, cooked or raw meat – with any bone content removed – and safe vegetables, like carrots and cooked potato.
Preparation is key for getting your new Cockapoo off to a great start! First, create a safe space for them with plenty of comfortable places to sleep and chew on appropriate items. Additionally, get the necessary supplies like food, a collar, toys, and a crate. Finally, find a vet near you and book an appointment for an initial check-up, to make sure your pet is healthy. Make sure to research the breed and their particular needs, so you know what kind of environment or schedule might best suit your Cockapoo.
Cockapoos come in a range of sizes, depending on the size of their parents. Generally, a Cockapoo bred from a Toy Poodle parent will be smaller than one bred from a Standard Poodle parent. Most Cockapoos range from 10-20 pounds when fully grown, although some may be smaller or larger than this. It is possible for a Cockapoo to grow as large as a Standard Poodle, depending on the size of the parents, although this is not common.
Generally speaking, your Cockapoo should receive at least 30 minutes of exercise per day. If possible, aim for closer to 45 minutes. Walks are great for satisfying your pup's need for physical activity and mental stimulation. The important thing is to give your Pet plenty of opportunity for exercise every day. Take your Cockapoo for plenty of walks throughout the day. If you cannot take your pet on a walk, why not take them to a park and let them run around and explore. Plan out several smaller walks throughout the day, if possible, rather than one big walk.
Absolutely! Cockapoos are renowned for their friendly temperaments, intelligence and ease of training, which makes them a fantastic companion and a great option for first-time owners. Cockapoos adapt quickly to new environments, providing stability and comfort to their new owners. They are also relatively low-energy compared to other dog breeds and possess a calm demeanor, which is especially useful for those owners who don't have a lot of experience with dogs. Additionally, their small size makes them ideal for compact spaces. Cockapoos are sure to bring ease and companionship to any first-time owner.
The amount of exercise a Cockapoo needs per day depends on its age, size, and energy level. Generally, an adult Cockapoo should have approximately one hour of exercise each day, which can be broken up into several intervals. Puppies typically need even more exercise, usually two or three sessions totaling around two hours per day. This exercise should include activities such as walks, playtime, and mental stimulation. It's important to ensure that your Cockapoo is getting adequate exercise on a regular basis in order to stay healthy and ensure its physical and mental wellbeing.
