Cockapoos are a hybrid or designer dog breed, which is a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle. They are recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club, the Designer Dogs Kennel Club, the International Designer Canine Registry, and the Cockapoo Club of America. Some defining features of Cockapoos are their medium-length, wavy or curly coat, their endearing personalities, their friendly innate nature towards other dogs and people, and their small size.
Cockapoos are not considered fully hypoallergenic due to their coating, however, they do have a much lower allergen count than most other breeds. Cockapoos boast a softer, wavier hair that is much less likely to cause irritation and/or swelling unlike some of the coarser breeds. They require regular grooming, but a good brushing, nail trim, and occasional bath should keep them looking and smelling great.
Cockapoos should never be fed chocolate, alcohol, grapes, raisins, or any foods high in fat or sugar as these can all cause digestive problems. Additionally, raw meat, raw eggs, pitted fruits, citrus fruits, onions, and garlic can all be dangerous to the health of your Cockapoo and should not be fed.
