They are classified as part of the “designer breed” class, meaning they are bred deliberately with specific characteristics, traits, and temperaments in mind. Cockapoos are known for being intelligent, friendly, and possessing the same kind of loyalty that is associated with traditional pedigree dogs, making them a popular addition to many households. This would include items such as a comfortable and supportive dog bed, appropriate chew toys to prevent destructive behavior, high-quality food and treats, a sturdy collar, a long enough lead to keep your pup in the vicinity, a brush, clippers, shampoo, and an appropriate flea and tick preventative. Generally speaking, Cockapoos do get along with other pets! They have a friendly personality and are known for being affectionate and gentle, so they should do well with both cats and dogs of all shapes and sizes. That being said, it is always important to properly introduce your pets and make sure to supervise the initial interactions so that everyone is safe and comfortable. Otherwise, Cockapoos are quite sociable and tend to enjoy playing with other animals. With the proper socialization, they should be able to peacefully interact with their furry housemates.
It largely depends on the individual needs of the Cockapoo—some may need more or less time. However, as a general rule, Cockapoos do best with at least 30 minutes of exercise a day. However, even more exercise is beneficial, as it will help keep them mentally stimulated, promote good behavior, and strengthen the bond between you and your pup. Depending on the age, size, and activity level of your Cockapoo, this can range from 1-2 brisk walks a day to several games of fetch on a smaller playground.
