Questions & Answers
Cockapoos are energetic, inquisitive, and loving companion animals. One of the most unique features of the Cockapoo is their soft, wavy coats, which can vary in color and can be a combination of its parent's coats. They make fantastic family pets because of their intelligence, friendly, and loving personalities. Additionally, they are also known to be hypoallergenic and low-shedding, making them an ideal breed for people who suffer from allergies.
It is possible that a Cockapoo could cause an allergic reaction, however this is not a guarantee. Each person is different and may have a different level of sensitivity. It is suggested that those who are concerned or may have had allergic reactions to other pets, that they should get tested prior to adopting a Cockapoo. When considering bringing a Cockapoo into your home, it's important to know that they are a high-shedding breed. Regular brushing and grooming can help reduce the amount of allergens that may be airborne and cause an allergic reaction.
Cockapoos should not be fed table scraps, fatty meats, fried foods, sugar, and anything containing agents like xylitol, raisins, grapes, and onions. These kinds of foods can cause digestive illnesses or have other negative impacts on a Cockapoo's health over time. Feeding a Cockapoo a balanced diet of quality, specially formulated food is recommended. Many people think that human foods such as cheese, rice, and vegetables are healthy for their pets, but the Cockapoo should only receive foods from the vet or from commercial pet food.
Before getting a Cockapoo, you should consider stocking up on essential supplies like food bowls, high quality dog food, a brush and grooming supplies, a bed, toys, and a crate. It's also important to get your new pup vaccinated and microchipped and set up an appropriate exercise and potty routine. Other items like treats, a leash, a collar and some chewy bones are also good to have. Finally, you'll want to set up a profile for your pet that includes up-to-date contact information in case they get lost.
Cockapoos come in a variety of sizes, ranging from small to large. The smallest size is typically around 6-9 lbs when fully grown. However, the size of a Cockapoo may vary depending on the size and breed of the parent dogs used to breed the Cockapoo. Medium-sized Cockapoos often measure between 10-19 lbs, while large Cockapoos can grow up to around 23-41 lbs. Some breeders have even created extra-large Cockapoos that can reach and exceed 50lbs in size.
An adult Cockapoo requires about 60 minutes of exercise daily. Of this 60 mins, it is suggested that 30 minutes should be dedicated to walking. Breaks from walking can be included in the remaining time in the form of play, free time or mentally stimulating activities. However, your Cockapoo's exercise needs can vary depending on individual energy levels and overall health. In addition, the length and intensity of each exercise session can be adjusted accordingly. For example, young puppies would require shorter and slower paced walks than more mature Cockapoos.
Cockapoos are generally very good with children due to their friendly and affectionate nature. They are typically intelligent, eager to please, and bonded to their families. Cockapoos tend to be gentle, energetic, and outgoing, making them great playmates for kids. Their size is also small enough for children to handle and control. In addition, as a hybrid breed, Cockapoos also tend to be lowto non-shedding, making them hypoallergenic for those with allergies.
It depends on the age, size, and energy level of your Cockapoo. Generally, younger pups require more exercise than older dogs. Smaller dogs also need less exercise than larger dogs. Additionally, more energetic Cockapoos may require more physical activity than calm dogs. It is recommended to provide physical activity for Cockapoos for at least 30 minutes per day, but for more active members of the family, up to one hour of activity a day may be necessary. Keep in mind that physical exercise is only part of the equation.
