Some fun facts about them include: They are energetic and can live up to 15 years; they are loyal companions who can be found in a variety of sizes and colors; they are bred mainly for hunting, but also for companionship; they love to explore with their noses and have a great sense of smell; they tend to bark quite a bit; their large, floppy ears act as cooling systems, aiding in the regulation of body temperature.
The short answer is no. Dachshunds have a double coat which means that their hair will shed year round, although not as excessively as other breeds. This breed does not blow their coat seasonally as some other breeds do. Grooming is an important routine which can help to curb the amount of hair shed. Brushing your Dachshund at least twice a week with a slicker brush will help to remove dead hairs from the coat and prevent a buildup from occurring.
