This breed was bred in Germany hundreds of years ago as a highly skilled hunter, and due to their size and badger-hunting instincts, they are not afraid to tackle any job, regardless of how big the prey is.
Although some Dachshunds can have a minimal shedding trait, most do present some level of shedding. This shedding will vary based on the coat of the Dachshund. Smooth-coated Dachshunds, for example, will shed less than long-haired Dachshunds. Dachshunds with wire-haired coats may not shed at all, or only a minimal amount. Regular brushing and vacuuming can help keep shedding in check.
Dachshunds require a balanced diet to keep them healthy and happy.
