Generally, Dachshunds do not shed a lot compared to other breeds of dogs. As with any breed, they are likely to leave some fur on furniture and carpets, but the amount is typically much lower than other breeds. They also do not require a lot of grooming like most other dogs. This is because their wire-haired coat only needs to be brushed occasionally, and their smooth coats only need to be combed and brushed once a week.
