Dachshunds are a friendly, loyal breed of dog that make great companions for both families and single owners alike. Primarily used as a sniffer and badger hunter, this breed is good-natured, clever, playful, and very brave. They thrive with close human companionship, and their energy and intelligence make them relatively easy to train. When fully-grown, they range in size from small to the standard Dachshund.
Dachshunds are a low shedding breed, though they are not non-shedding. While they only need to be brushed and groomed periodically, you may find a fair amount of fur being shed in your home as a result of these dogs. Regular grooming helps to keep hair off of furniture and clothing and is essential for Dachshunds to keep their coats healthy and keep shedding to a minimum.
