Dachshunds are a specific breed of dog also referred to as "wiener dogs" or "sausage dogs". These dogs belong to the hound family, but they've also been known to belong to the terrier family in past kennel clubs. Dachshunds come in three sizes, standard, miniature and Kaninchen (rabbit) and also three different coat types including smooth-haired, wire-haired and long-haired varieties. They are known to be playful, devoted and courageous and have become popular companion dogs to many.
While Dachshunds are generally considered to be low-shedding dogs, they can still release some fur when grooming themselves or when the seasons change. Additionally, daily brushing can help to reduce shedding even further, as it will help to remove any dead fur and skin cells which may otherwise end up in your living space. Although Dachshunds may not shed as much as other breeds, they still require regular grooming time to keep their coat in tip top condition. Regular baths and brushing will help to keep shedding to a minimum, leaving you with a beautiful and healthy dog.
Dachshunds need a diet that is high in protein and low in fat to maintain a healthy lifestyle for them.
