One of the most interesting things about Dachshunds is their tenacity and intelligence! They have an independent personality which allows them to solve problems and remember commands. They are also incredibly loyal and loving companions; they form strong attachments to their families and tend to be very affectionate.
Dachshunds are not considered to be hypoallergenic; however, several factors can affect the severity of a person's allergies. The dander (dead skin cells) around a Dachshund may be a source of potential allergy symptoms. Dander particles can attach to a Dachshund's coat and be released into the air when disturbed. Additionally, Dachshunds shed their coats, and the dander gets into the air or attaches to objects in the environment.
Dachshunds have unique dietary needs due to their long backs and low body fat percentage. To ensure that your Dachshund gets the nutrients they need, look for a food that is rich in digestible proteins and healthy fats. Whole grains are also beneficial for providing energy and essential vitamins and minerals. Avoid foods containing corn, wheat, and soy, which can trigger food sensitivities in Dachshunds. Proper hydration is key, so look for a food that contains moisture sources such as chicken broth, which helps keep your Dachshund's digestive system healthy.
