They are known for their playful and endearing characteristics and have a deep loyalty to their owners. Dachshunds can stand anywhere from just 5 to 9 inches high at the shoulder and weigh anywhere from 16 to 32 pounds depending on the type. Generally Dachshunds are inquisitive, clever, and brave as well as being affectionate and great with children.
Dachshunds are not typically non-shedding. They have long coats of fur that can shed quite heavily throughout the year.
