A Dachshund (also known as a “wiener dog” or “sausage dog”) is a short-legged, long-bodied breed of dog of the hound family. They originated in Germany centuries ago and were bred to hunt badgers, as their name implies (“Dachshund” means “badger-dog”). This breed is known for being friendly and loyal, as well as independent and courageous.
The coat of a Dachshund is short, straight, and glossy. It can be either smooth or long-haired and comes in a variety of colors and patterns.
