Fun fact number one: they are referred to as “sausage dogs” because of their long, slender bodies. Fun fact number three: due to their short legs, they can’t reach things that are on a high surface, making it necessary for someone to pick them up on high shelves and couches.
The Dachshund coat is smooth and short, but the texture varies depending on the breed. Some have stiff, non-shedding coats that require regular grooming, while others have short, soft, and shedding coats that require little maintenance. The Dachshund typically comes in three types Standard, Wirehaired, and Longhaired and their coats come in a variety of colors.
