They are noted for their wide, smushed-in faces and tall, heavy-set bodies. They come in a variety of colors such as cream, fawn, white, brindle, or a combination. They are a friendly breed, often called a 'clown' because they love to make people laugh and can make great watchdogs.
French Bulldogs are not non-shedding dogs; however, they are a low-shedding breed so they won't require as much brushing and grooming as some other breeds. A good brushing a couple of times a week is usually sufficient and can help control shedding. French Bulldogs do not have a thick double coat that requires regular clipping or trimming, and their coats are usually soft and sparse and require only occasional shampooing. Although French Bulldogs do shed, it is less than some other breeds. It is important to remember to groom and brush your French Bulldog regularly to help control shedding.
