French Bulldogs are classified in the Non-Sporting Group by the American Kennel Club (AKC). They are known for their distinctive, adorable "bat-like" ears, bright eyes, and wrinkled snub noses. A typical French Bulldog is a compact and muscular breed that is low in height. Though they are naturally athletic, active, lively and alert, they remain calm indoors and adapt well to living in small spaces or apartments. French Bulldogs make great companions as they possess an endearing array of personality traits, such as being friendly, affectionate, and loving.
The French Bulldog coat is generally short, soft and smooth to the touch. The coat will usually have a reddish tinge with brindle or solid markings. It's not uncommon to find solid black or brown coats as well. The coat usually comes in a variety of colors, including fawn and brindle.
