French Bulldogs are intelligent and playful pups that make great companions. They were bred from the English Bulldog and used for ratting in Paris during the 1800s, before their popularity spread to other corners of the world. As an interesting fact, they have the same ancestor as the English Bulldog, the Tibetan Mastiff, and the Black and Tan Terrier! Another fun fact is that these pooches don't need a lot of exercise they usually just like up to an hour of playtime daily.
French Bulldogs are not non-shedding breeds of dogs. While they are known for their lower grooming needs, they do require regular brushing to keep their coat looking its best. To help reduce the amount of shedding, Frenchies should receive a weekly brushing with a soft brush. It's also important to provide regular baths to help prevent mats and tangles. In addition, regular nail trimming, ear cleaning, and teeth brushing should be done as part of their overall grooming routine. These additional maintenance tasks will keep them healthy and looking their best.
French Bulldogs do have some special dietary needs.
