It can be traced back to the mid-19th century in the Scottish Highlands when a gentleman by the name of Lord Tweedmouth began breeding them in an attempt to create the perfect gundog. The original breeding standard included pointers, setters, and retrievers that resulted in a dog that was a master at hunting both on land and in the water.
Golden Retrievers have a thick, beautiful double coat that is premium quality. The outer coat is wavy and water-repellent and usually ranges in color from creamy gold to dark gold.
