Some fun facts about Golden Retrievers include that they're one of the first breeds developed specifically for retrieving game, their original purpose was as a gundog, and they closely resemble Labrador Retrievers and Flat-Coated Retrievers. Golden Retrievers are known for their thick, wavy coats which can come in shades of gold, cream, red, and various other colors.
Golden Retrievers are not what we would consider a "non-shedding" breed. Unfortunately, due to their thick double coats, they shed moderately throughout the year. Moreover, they do have an intense shedding season generally lasting a few weeks once or twice a year. During this time, regular brushing is recommended to help reduce the amount of shedding. For owners who don't want to see as much hair in their home, vacuuming and wiping down fur-prone furniture and fabrics regularly can help keep shedding under control.
