Golden Retrievers are classified as sporting dogs, a large category of dogs that includes Breeds developed and used for activities such as bird hunting. These dogs are prized for their friendly and outgoing personalities, as well as their intelligence and trainability. Golden Retrievers have a wavy, water-resistant coat that can be either light or dark in color. They are typically large dogs, standing from 21.5 to 24 inches at the shoulder and weighing anywhere from 55 to 75 pounds. They generally have a long lifespan, living anywhere from 10 to 12 years or more.
