Questions & Answers
Goldendoodles are a cross between a Poodle and a Golden Retriever, so they often possess the best traits of both breeds. They are generally smart and friendly, making them a great family pet. One of the most interesting things about Goldendoodles is their hypoallergenic coatmany of them don't shed, so they don't cause allergic reactions in people with sensitive allergies. Additionally, Goldendoodles are very trainable and their temperament is often sweet, affectionate and patient.
Generally, Goldendoodles do not cause people to have allergies. While there are no guarantees, Goldendoodles don't typically shed as much as other breeds, which can reduce the amount of dander in the air and therefore help reduce allergic reactions. However, it's important to note that some people may still be allergic to Goldendoodles, due to the individual's sensitivity to doggy dander, saliva, urine, and other allergens.
Goldendoodles generally have the same dietary needs as any other canine breed with a few exceptions. They are a hybrid breed, being a mix between a Poodle and a Golden Retriever, so their dietary requirements may vary depending on their individual health history. Goldendoodles are prone to allergies, so it is important to select high-quality ingredients that are natural and free of artificial flavors, colors, flavorings, additives, and preservatives. It is also important to provide your Goldendoodle with complete and balanced nutrition tailored specifically for their age and activity level.
Preparing for a new Goldendoodle can be a rewarding and exciting experience! Before bringing your pooch home, start by doing some research to make sure you are familiar with common Goldendoodle characteristics, as well as the breed's specific health and nutritional needs.
Goldendoodle puppies can vary in size depending on the size of the parent breeds. Typically, the size of Goldendoodle puppies will be somewhere between that of a Golden Retriever and a Standard Poodle. The larger variety of a Goldendoodle will typically be about 65 pounds when full grown. The smaller variety may end up only reaching approximately 35 pounds when mature. We agree that having a puppy of any size can be a joy, but it is important to remember that size can have an impact on their future needs.
How much exercise your Goldendoodle should get each day depends on their age, overall health, and energy level. Generally speaking, young puppies up to 12 months should get about 30 minutes exercise a day. For Goldendoodles over 12 months, one hour to one and a half hours of exercise per day is ideal, ideally broken up into several short walks or playtimes. It's important to ensure each exercise session includes plenty of opportunies to sniff and explore this will help keep your pup stimulated, exercised and happy.
Goldendoodles are an excellent choice for first-time owners. They are highly intelligent and eager to please, making them easy to train and a joy to have around. Goldendoodles have a low-shedding coat and a sweet, gentle disposition which makes them an ideal companion and an easy dog to care for. Their even temper and friendly nature make them great with children and other pets, and they tend to bond quickly with their owners.
Training a Goldendoodle requires patience, consistency, repetition, and positive reinforcement. The best way to begin is by teaching your pup basic commands, such as 'sit', 'stay', and 'heel'. Start in an area that is distraction-free with plenty of treats and a clicker if you are using the clicker method. Work one command at a time and give your pup a treat each time they demonstrate the desired behavior. Increase the difficulty as your pup masters the command. Move to new areas with different distractions once your pup is comfortable with the basics.
