Goldendoodles are a cross-breed between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle, so they generally exhibit traits from both breeds. They are very intelligent, friendly and social, and have a lot of energy which should be spent on regular exercise. Goldendoodles are typically loyal and protective and make excellent watchdogs or guard dogs, but they also make great family pets due to their gentle and affectionate nature. They are often recommended for first-time or novice dog owners due to their low maintenance grooming needs and generally mild temperament.
The Goldendoodle's coat is incredibly diverse as the breed is a mix of two breeds; the Golden Retriever and the Poodle each of which has its own unique coat composition. Generally, Goldendoodle coats come in a variety of colors and lengths and can range from silky and wavy to thick and curly. The variation in coat types depends heavily on the type of Poodle that contributed to the mix whether it be the Standard, Miniature or Toy Poodle.
