Goldendoodles are a hybrid breed of dog, created by one parent being a Golden Retriever and the other being a Poodle. This combination of two active purebreds, known as hybrid vigor, results in a very smart and friendly family pet. Goldendoodles have short to mid length coats, come in many colors, and can be low to non-shedding depending on their genetics. They require moderate exercise and usually don't need huge yards as they're usually content with a few walks daily and a fenced yard is all that's required.
Goldendoodles are not considered hypoallergenic breeds. While their hypoallergenic characteristics can vary from dog to dog, they are not considered to be 100% non-allergenic. Allergies are triggered by a person's reaction to debris from a dog's fur, saliva or dander, and Goldendoodle owners should take proper precautions to ensure that their home is free from allergens, regardless of the breed.
Goldendoodles are considered a very healthy breed, but they do have certain dietary restrictions to keep them in peak condition. Generally, it is best to stick to high-quality, natural, nutrient-dense dry food formulated specifically for dogs.
