Goldendoodles are generally referred to as a hybrid breed. They are the result of crossing two very popular breeds the Poodle and the Golden Retriever. Despite being a hybrid, Goldendoodles possess qualities from both of their parent breeds. They tend to have the gentle, friendly nature of a Golden Retriever and the intelligence and low-shedding coat of a Poodle. Goldendoodles are considered to be relatively healthy, but may prone to some hereditary health problems common to their parents' breeds.
Goldendoodles are considered low-shedding or non-shedding dogs. The amount of shedding can depend on the blend of crossbred Poodle and Golden Retriever genetics. Generally, Goldendoodles with a wavy or curly coat are usually non-shedding. If your Goldendoodle has a shorter, finer, smooth coat similar to a Golden Retriever, they will likely shed more.
