Questions & Answers
Goldendoodles are a hybrid breed of dog, meaning they are a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. They are affectionate, smart, and loyal and usually have a happy-go-lucky personality. Goldendoodles are usually great family companions as they are excellent with children and people of all ages. They are also very low-shedding dogs, making them an excellent option for those with allergy concerns. As a whole, Goldendoodles can come in three sizes: Standard (or more typically the Labradoodle), Miniature, and Toy.
Unfortunately, there is no definite answer to this question since allergies are unique to the individual. While some people may be completely fine around Goldendoodles, others may experience allergies, perhaps due to their fur and dander. That being said, it is slightly more likely that you may experience an allergy since Goldendoodles are a hybrid breed containing some characteristics of both the Golden Retriever and the Poodle. Fortunately, there are measures that you can take to reduce the impact that allergies have on you.
Goldendoodles are relatively robust dogs and typically need a much lower quantity of food than other medium and large breeds. However, this doesn't mean that their dietary needs should be overlooked. Goldendoodles tend to be sensitive eaters and may require extra attention when it comes to food selection. These pooches have specific needs in terms of good nutrition, including the appropriate calorie content, nutrients, and protein content. It's also important to make sure that they are receiving the right amount of omega fatty acids, which can be found in food products fortified with it.
Before getting your Goldendoodle, you should make sure you have all the necessary items needed to give it a good home. You should have a high-quality brush and other grooming supplies, comfortable dog bed, soft towels, durable bowls for food and water, quality and appropriate-sized dog collar and leash, a fenced-in area for exercise, toys to keep your pup occupied, and an assortment of treats. Additionally, you should research and purchase food specifically for Goldendoodles as they are prone to certain health issues and need a diet tailored to them.
The size of your Goldendoodle puppy will depend on the size of each of its parents. Goldendoodles can range from 7 to 45 pounds at adulthood and between 12 and 24 inches in height. You should also keep in mind that the size will vary based on the type of Goldendoodle you decide to adopt, and whether each parent is a Standard Poodle, Miniature or Toy. Generally speaking, puppies from two Standard Poodles will be larger than puppies from two Miniature Poodles, and those from two Toy Poodles will be the smallest.
Generally, Goldendoodles should walk for at least 30 minutes per day. However, depending on the age and breed of your dog, as well as your own lifestyle, it is important to tailor the amount of walking time to what works best for you both. For an average adult Goldendoodle, you may want to bump up the number to 45 minutes, engaging them in a combination of light to moderate activities such as games, walks, hikes, and obedience training.
Goldendoodles are generally known to get along with children and make great family pets. They're loyal, intelligent and affectionate, making them an ideal companion for kids. Goldendoodles tend to be significantly easier to train than most dogs. They can learn basic commands quickly and can be taught to stay calm near children. Goldendoodles are also quite sociable, so they usually do great when meeting new people, including children. Because of their size and playful nature, they can often become beloved members of a family.
