They are considered a "designer breed" and are often used as therapy dogs or service dogs because of their gentle, friendly dispositions. Goldendoodles come in a variety of colors including cream, white, apricot, red, and black. Their coat can be either straight or curly, and they typically shed very little.
Goldendoodles are often thought to be hypoallergenic because they are a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Standard Poodle. Poodles are known for being hypoallergenic, but Golden Retrievers are not. So, technically speaking, Goldendoodles are not hypoallergenic. However, they are known to be less likely to cause an allergic reaction than other breeds of dogs. If you are allergic to dogs but would still like to have one, a Goldendoodle may be a good option for you.
Since Goldendoodles are a mix of two breeds the Golden Retriever and the Standard Poodle their dietary needs will depend on which parent breed they take after more. If they have a higher percentage of Golden Retriever in them, they will likely do better on a high-protein diet since that is what Golden Retrievers need. If they have a higher percentage of Poodle in them, they may need a grain-free diet or a hypoallergenic diet since Poodles are known for being allergic to certain grains and foods.
There are a few things you'll need to buy before you bring home your Goldendoodle. A crate, collar and leash, food and water bowls, and toys are all must-haves. You'll also need to purchase some food formulated specifically for puppies, as well as some chew toys to help with teething. Finally, you'll want to pick up some doggy waste bags to clean up after your pup when you're out and about.
