A Goldendoodle is a mixed breed dog created by crossing a Golden Retriever with a Poodle. It is considered to be a designer dog because it is bred with the intention of combining the desirable traits of each breed. Those who choose to own a Goldendoodle look for the advantages of an even-tempered, non-shedding, low-allergenic breed. Goldendoodles usually come in a variety of sizes ranging from just a few pounds to as much as 100 pounds or more.
Goldendoodles can be an ideal breed for those with allergies because they have low-to-no dander and a low-shedding coat. It is important to manage allergies by ensuring proper hygiene and regular cleaning. Be sure to groom your Goldendoodle on a regular basis, brushing to reduce loose fur and keep their coat clean. Wash bedding and rugs often or spot-treat with an enzyme cleaner. If possible, use a home air filtration system to reduce allergens in the air.
Goldendoodles are generally healthy dogs that require a balanced and nutritious diet geared to the needs of their temperament and activity level. A diet for a Goldendoodle should contain high-quality proteins, complex carbohydrates, healthy unsaturated fats, digestible fiber, essential minerals and vitamins, plus natural sources of omega-3 and 6 fatty acids. Dry kibble is generally a good option for Goldendoodles, especially for puppies. Goldendoodles are known for their affable nature and are known to get along with kids quite well. They are the perfect choice for families with children since they are considered intelligent, gentle, and peaceful dogs which make them great family pets.
